• Mogao Grottoes: Located on the east part of Hexi Corridor in Dunhuang City of Gansu Province, Mogao Grottoes is 25 kilometers (16 miles) in the southeast of Dunhuang City with 1,680 meters (1,837 yards) long from south to north and 50 meters (164 feet) high, which is famous all over the world for its fantastic murals and colored clay sculptures, and it is bestowed with the title of “the Oriental Louvre Palace” and it is considered as “One of the Four Grottoes in China” together with Yungang Grottoes of Datong City in Shanxi Province, Longmen Grottoes of Luoyang City in Henan Province and Maijishan Grottoes of Tianshui City in Gansu Province.
• Echoing Sand Mountain: As a key national- level scenic spot in China, the MingSha Mountain is 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) in the south of Dunhuang City with Mogao Grottoes in the east and the Dang River in the west, which is 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) long from west to east and 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) wide from south to north with the top peak of 1,715 meters (5,627 feet), covering an area of 200 square kilometers (77 square miles), and it forms the unique landscape in the desert together with the Crescent Spring.
