Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family
Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family is an ancestral-hall-style building in the Qing dynasty (1644-1911) which located at No.7 Zhongshan Road in Guangzhou. After the middle of the Qing Dynasty, there were more and more academies built for the clan children to have classes and attend the empire examinations in many towns of Guangzhou. These academies are also the ancestral hall for ancestors worship. The Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family is large and ornate and it’s the intact representative of folk architectures in the late Qing Dynasty in Guangdong.
Chen Clan Academy is known to the world for its exquisite decorative technique. It extensively uses woodcarvings, stone carvings, brick carvings, ceramic, color decoration and copper, Iron Cast and other craftwork of different styles.
Architectural features:
Chen Clan Academy faces south. There is an open square in the front of the door. In the front and back, east and west there are four yards, covering an area of 13.2 thousand square meters. The layout is strict, symmetry and spacious. As for the handling of the building, the axis is the main line. On both sides there are low rooms and verandas, bringing out the majestic mettle of the main hall and highlighting the vertical and horizontal structure of the main hall building.

Transportation: the most convenient way to the Chen Clan is to take the subway. Walk out of the subway station and go through a green leisure square Chen Clan, you will arrive at the main entrance of the Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family.
