Baiyun Mountain

It is said that "Baiyun and Zhuhai" is used to specifically refer to Guangzhou and the "Baiyun" here refers to Baiyun Mountain. Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area is located in the north of Guangzhou, about 17 km (10.56 mi) away from the urban area. It is known as "the first mountain in southern China".

It's said that every autumn white clouds, rising in the mountain, covers one side of the hill. Looking from the distance, the mountain appears just like a veil shroud on it. And Baiyun Mountain obtains its name from this reason. Covering an area of 28 square kilometers, Baiyun Mountain has more than 30 peaks. Among them the Mount Davis is the highest peak in Guangzhou, with elevation of 382 meters. Baiyun Mountain is also known as one of the new eight scenic spots in Guangzhou.

Features:
Baiyun Mountain is a perfect place for relaxing. There are mainly six areas attracting tourists, namely Bright Pearl Building Park, the San tailing Summit Park, the Bird Spring Valley Park (Mingchun Valley), the Santailing Park, the Luhu Park and the Fei'eling Park.

As for Santailing Park, it has a famous tourist attraction called Yuntai Garden, a bright pearl in the crown of White Cloud Mountain. Yuntai Garden is an enormous garden almost full of all kinds of blooms and trees, and this make Guangzhou deserve the reputation "City of Flowers".

There is another park named Sculpture Park, located in Fei'eling Park, and it covers an area of 46 hectares (113 acres). Conforming to the trend of modern time, sculptures here are designed in fashion forms which express the essence of modern art. You will also find the biggest birdcage in China, a perfect place for enjoying all kinds of birds which is named Bird Spring Valley Park. You can walk among the beautiful mountains and rivers in this area and you may have a close contact with a variety of birds. 

As to Luhu Park, the extremely clear lake tnere perfectly reflected the beautiful surrounding sights in the water, like a brilliantly drawn picture.

Due to the recent rapid development of Guangzhou City, Baiyun Mountain is mostly outstanding for its urban developments. A major beauty spot in a modern city is really a most unusual occurrence, with with a population of 8,000,000. Baiyun Mountain can be said to be a magic that successfully keeps its natural environments in the development of the city.
