With a good reputation of enthralling landscape since ancient time, Guilin has always been an important tourist destination all over the world. It has been endowed as the important scenery tourist city and the historical cultural city in China by the State Council of the People's Republic of China. It is also known as the Pearl of the international tourism, characterized by its green hills, clear water, pretty rocks and grotesque caves. It is the typical representative of China's natural scenery as well. Guilin is located in the south-western of Nanling Mountains, with an average elevation of 150 meters. The name “Guilin” means "forest of Sweet Osmanthus", owing to the large number of fragrant Sweet Osmanthus trees located in the city. It is a typical Karst topography with the limestone eroded for hundreds of millions of years. Therefore, it has formed a lot of unique landscapes. Guilin Attractions

  • Piled Silk Hill: Staying in the northeast of Guilin by the Li River, Piled Silk Hill is one of the most popular attractions in Guilin, known for its amazing scenery and stone carvings. Due to the resemblance of its rock formations, which are piled up layer upon layer on each other, it is now also known as Folded Brocade Hill.
  • Fubo Hill: Fubo Hill, located by the shore of Li River in the downtown, is a beautiful place gathering mountain, water, holes, stone, gardens and heritage of the city as a whole. It is renowned for its unique caves, beautiful scenery and clear lake, thus it has gained many good reputations.
  • Elephant Trunk Hill : Elephant Trunk Hill is located on the western bank of Li River Scenery, at the confluence of Li River and the Peach Blossom River (Taohuajiang). It obtained its name because the mountain resembles closely an elephant stretching its nose drinking water on the river bank. It is known as a symbol of Guilin landscape.
