Solitary Beauty Peak

Solitary Beauty Peak is located in the ancient Mansion of Prince Jingjiang, in the center of Guilin City. Towering abruptly from the ground with magnificent vigour, it has long been known as the “Southern Sky-supporting Pillar". There is a natural stone chamber located in the east of the hill and it is believed to be the study used by Yan Yanzhi (a famous literator in the Southern Song Dynasty 1127–1279) when he was the Magistrate of Guilin 1,500 years ago. It also is one of the oldest historical spots. Moreover, the best-known verse, “East or West, Guilin’ scenery is the best”, was firstly engraved on this hill. No doubt that the Solitary Beauty Peak is an impartible part of the ancient Mansion of Prince Jingjiang (a mausoleum of a royal family in the Ming Dynasty).

Features and Main Attractions:
Solitary Beauty Peak along with Diecai Hill and Fubo Hill are said to be the three most unique mountains in Guilin. They stand like the three legs of a tripod in Guilin .Towering 66 meters (about 217 feet) above ground, this peak has been a major scenic attraction in Guilin. It was made of limestone from shallow sea sediments about 0.35 billion years ago. In the haze of dawn or the glow of sunset the peak is purple or gold, looking like an emperor in purple cloth with golden belt, hence it earns another name-- purple golden hill.

The renowned Yueya (Crescent) Pond, located at the east foot of the peak, is one of the eight ancient scenic spots. Green hill and clear water form a beautiful picture here.

Tips:
1. A stone stair of 306 steps will lead you to the top of the peak, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Guilin City.
2. Opening time: 09：30 -- 17：30
3. Transportation: you can take No.1 and 100 buses to get there.
