Taxi
Guilin is a small city, so using a taxi for getting from one place to another is very convenient and relatively inexpensive. In the daytime (6:30 am-11:00 pm), the initial charge is 7 yuan for the first 2 kilometers, then 1.6 yuan for each additional kilometer within a distance of 4 kilometers, and 2 yuan for each additional kilometer after a distance of 4 kilometers. At night, the initial charge is 7.8 yuan for the first 2 kilometers and 1.8 yuan for each additional kilometer within a distance of 4 kilometers, and 2.4 yuan for each additional kilometer after a distance of 4 kilometers. Note that for each trip, you will need to add an extra 1 yuan as a fuel surcharge fee to the fare shown on the meter.

Public Bus
Public buses in Guilin are fully networked to take passengers to major spots and attractions within the city. Guilin is also one of the first cities in China with English bus stop signs.

There are regular, air-conditioned, and free public buses in Guilin. Buses No. 50-58 are free, which means you can ride them free of charge. Although the buses stop at some major tourist attractions, it may take a very long time to wait for one, so they are not a suggested method of transportation.

Buses starting with 8 or 9, such as 88 and 99, are air-conditioned buses or buses that run a very long distance. Ticket fares are 2 yuan per person. The rest of the public buses are of regular type, usually charging 1 yuan per person.

As well, there is one tourist bus No. 1 which is an air-conditioned double decker that charges 2 yuan per person. It runs at an interval of 30 minutes from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm, and its route is Guilin Railway Station-Guilin Long-Distance Bus Station-Elephant Hill-Liberation Bridge-Fubo Hill-Crossroads-Guilin Long-Distance Bus Station-Guilin Railway Station.

Beware of pickpockets when riding a public bus.
