Guilin has a humid subtropical monsoon climate, with mild weather and abundant rainfall. The annual average temperature is around 19°C (66.2°F).

July and August is the hottest, with an average temperature of 28.5°C (83.3°F). Occasionally it will reach to more than 30°C (86°F). The annual frost-free period of Guilin is about 309 days. The coldest weather is in January and February and the average temperature is 8.3°C (46.94°F). It will drop below zero occasionally.

It has thin snowfall every year, yet the duration is not long. There is much rainfall during April and July, which accounts for 40 percent of the year. Guilin has an annual average rainfall of 1926mm (75.8268in).

It is the best time to visit Guilin during the summer and autumn (April to October), for the scenery at this time is full of great charm.
