Standing on a huge rock in the Nanming River in the south of Guiyang City, Jiaxiu Pavilion was built in the 26th year during the reign of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1,368- A.D.-1,644 A.D.) by Guizhou Governor, which was called Jaixiu Pavilion because the local people wished that more elites would be produced from this area. In the ancient times, there were a lot of famous scholars and achieved Taoists coming here to give lectures, including the founder of Wudang Sect Zhang Sanfeng according to the legends. Its red eaves and green tiles are really wonderful and splendid together with the river, the trees and the rocks around the pavilion. It was enlisted as the key culture relic under state protection in 2006.

Jiuxiu Pavillion

The main features of Jiaxiu Pavilion
Jiaxiu Pavilion is composed of 3 parts: the main body of the pavilion, the Floating Jade Bridge and Cuiwei Garden. The main body of the pavilion is a 3-storied architecture with 4 eaves on each story and a spire on the top, which is 20 meters (66 feet) high above the water with Nanming River flowing in the front of the pavilion, forming the aquamarine of Hanbi Pond. The profile of the pavilion is reflected in the Nanming River when night falls, which seems as if you are in paradise. Standing on the third story of the pavilion, you will have a panorama of the whole scenic spot, which are very wonderful and splendid.

Beneath the pavilion is the Floating Jade Bridge spanning from the north bank to the south bank, and there is a stone memorial archway “the Remains in the South of Guiyang City” at the end of the bridge, with Hanbi Pavilion standing on the bridge.
