The Ice and Snow World

Harbin Ice and Snow World was created in 1999, which is proposed by the City Government to meet the Millennium Celebration of Century Travelling in China, collecting the essence of the ice and snow art works from all over the world, which is the largest ice and snow world fair in scale in the world with the most ice and snow attractions as well as the most ice and snow entertaining sports in the fair, displaying the unique characteristics and charms of ice and snow culture in Harbin, and it has been held for 10 sessions successively.

Some examples of Harbin Ice and Snow World

The 7th session of Harbin Ice and Snow World fully represents the exotic style of Russia with the theme of “A Friendly Sino-Russia Relationship & Wonderful Snow and Ice”, and the whole exhibit area is composed of 8 sections: the Winter Palace, the Red Square, the October Square, the local towns in Russia and the Lenin Square, fully displaying the architectures, the folk customs, the historical celebrities and culture of Russia in the from of pieces of ice and snow art works. The whole Ice and Snow World covers an area of 280,000 square meters (334,877 square yards) with more than 120,000 cubic- meter (156,954 cubic- yard) ice and 80,000 cubic- meter (104,636 cubic- yard) snow, and there are more than 2,000 pieces of ice and snow art works in the 7th session of Harbin Ice and Snow World, among which the highest architecture-the Bell Tower in the Red Square of Masco is as high as 50 meters (164 feet), and the statue of the Saint Peter Castle cost more than 12,000 cubic -meter (156,954 cubic- yard) ice.

The 11th session of Harbin Ice and Snow World combines arts and science perfectly as one with the theme of “Ice and Snow Builds Brilliant Movement, Joy Invites the World”. The whole exhibit area in the session can be divided into 6 scenic spot areas, which are the Civilization Traveling Area, the Art Traveling Area, the City Traveling Area, the Happiness Traveling Area, the Dream Traveling Area and the Ice and Snow Sport Area respectively. As the highest level of ice and snow arts in the whole world, the Ice and Snow World in Harbin attracts the visitors for its advanced technology and perfect arts.
