Id Kah Mosque

Id Kah Mosque was built in 1,442 as a small cemetery, covering an area of 16,800 square meters (about 4 acres) with 140 meters (153 yards) long from north to south and 120 meters (131 yards) wide from west to east, and it has the present scale after several renovations and enlargements, which is made up of the gate tower, the courtyard and the Hall of Prayer, grandeur and majestic.

The gate tower is 12 meters (39 feet) high with light green color, which is decorated delicately by carving flowers. There is a big square inside the gate tower, which is connected to a Worship Temple. The Hall of Prayer is on a high platform in the west of the mosque with a roof supported by light blue pillars in rectangular shape, which is decorated by exquisite carvings and beautiful patterns. Thousands of Muslims from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region gather in the mosque as well as the square and the streets during religious festivals to celebrate their festivals, dancing to show their happiness with new clothes, which is very splendid and grandeur.
