The Waterwheel Exhibit Park

The Waterwheel Exhibit Park is located in the west of Binhe Road of Lanzhou City with the Zhongshan Bridge in the east, the Mother Statute of the Yellow River in the west, the White Tower Mountain in the north and the White Cloud Temple in the south, covering an area of 14,500 square meters (17,342 square yards), which was built by a local senior architecture in 1994. The waterwheels are actually the irrigation tools with the diameter of the 16.5 meters (18 yards) in the wheel span, standing on the south bank of the Yellow River, which rotate with the help of the natural water, and the park is a professional tourism park recovering the ancient traditional irrigation system in Gansu Province.

The main features of the Waterwheel Exhibit Park

The south Gate of the Waterwheel Exhibit Park is a unique wood-structure architecture, and you will see the Waterwheel Square when walking into the gate, and it is world- famous for tens of waterwheels of different styles from all over the world in the square with the Lanzhou Waterwheels as the center, among which the Lanzhou Waterwheels represent the traditional Chinese Waterwheel style for their distinctive structure and delicate arts and crafts as well as their unique style. There is a statue standing in the square with the bamboo tube wheel on the left side and the wood waterwheel on the right side, who is the founder of Lanzhou Waterwheels, and the waterwheels in the square become a special attraction in Lanzhou City after the waterwheels were invented.

There is a waterwheel garden that is next to the Waterwheel Square with 12 authentic Lanzhou Waterwheels as the main attraction, which is actually the site of the old Waterwheel Park in history, with the Yellow River roaring, the waterwheels rotating, the water in the trenches meandering and the flowers and grasses scattering in the park, recovering the harmonious agricultural production along the Yellow River in the ancient times. In the east of the Waterwheel Square is the Culture Square, which is composed of the tourism souvenir stores, the Yellow River Rare Stone Hall, Modern Historical Museum of Lanzhou and the Performance Square, which fully reflect the waterwheel culture in the forms of pictures, documents and material objects as well as art performances. Now there is a Waterwheel Teahouse in the park with the waterwheels as the background, which is very famous for its peaceful environment and high- quality service, attracting more and more visitors from all over the world each day, and the park has become a comprehensive tourism attraction combining sightseeing, restaurant, recreation and travelling as one.

Getting there:

The Waterwheel Exhibit Park is located in the west of Binhe Road of Lanzhou City with the Zhongshan Bridge in the east, so you can take a bus No. 140 and 26 to get there directly from the city center, and it is open to the public from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm every day in summer and from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm in other seasons.
