As one of the biggest airports in the northwest part of China, Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport is located in the north part of Lanzhou City center, about 74.5 kilometers (46 miles) away from the city center. There are more than 40 direct flights from the airport to the major cities throughout China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Dunhuang, Guangzhou, and Xi’an, and there are also regular direct flights from the airport to Hongkong on Tuesday every week. There are also international flights from this airport to Okinawa of Japan and Malaysia as well. Most of the tourists choose it as the transfer stop—fly to Lanzhou City first for sightseeing, and then take a bus to Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Ningxia province, Inner Mongolia in the north and Sichuan Province in the south. And the air flights will be adjusted according to the demand in different seasons to meet the demands of the visitors. There are regular airport shuttle buses every 30 minutes from 6:00 am to the last bus with the ticket fee of CNY 30 for each one, and you can get on the shuttle bus in the front of the air- ticket office on the Donggang West Road in the city, which only takes you one hour from the airport to the city center. Of course, you can take a taxi from the airport to Lanzhou City center with the ticket fare of CNY 120.
