Story about Makye Ame:
"Makye Ame" is a beautiful legend circulating in the Tibet. It means holy mother and pure girl. It also extendedly means an unfulfilled dream. It is a story about a lama. The lama in Tibetan history is not only an outstanding leader of the religious spirit, but also a brilliant romantic poet.

Introduction:
Makye Ame is located at the southeast corner of Lhasa city, mainly offering Nepalese, Indian and Tibetan dishes. Though it is a restaurant with a strong Tibetan style, most guests are foreign tourists, and the price is expensive. There are many visitors’ books on tea tables, and they are full of tourists' description on their feelings of traveling and homesickness.

"Makye Ame" is a place for relaxation and experiencing Tibetan culture. Traditional style of decoration enables us to share and experience Tibetan culture in your mind under a relaxing circumstance. In the middle of the dining hall there hangs a Buddha statue, whose eyes are so fiery that they seem to be able to perspective visitors’ soul.

A yellow wall which has slightly exposed cracks is in coordination with the color of the exterior wall. On the yellow wall you can see the old black and white photos related with the past of Tibet, distributing nostalgic atmosphere. The floor is randomly covered with a few old-style Tibetan carpets, adding some warmth to this restaurant. The hand-crafted wood bar is both permeated with depth and elegance of Tibetan culture and integrated with the tone of simplicity here.

Tips:
Signature dishes include barley wine, Tsamba, sour milky wine, butter tea, sour milk, sweetened milk and milky tea.
