Lijiang Travel

The Lijiang City locates in the northwestern Yunnan, which is the connection of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, with the Tibetan Nationality Autonomous Prefecture in the north, the Dali Bai Nationality Autonomous Prefecture in the south and the Lisu Nationality Autonomous Prefecture in the west. Panzhihua City and the Liangshan Yi Nationality Autonomous Prefecture are adjacent to it in the east. Lijiang City covers 20,600 square kilometers, including the ancient city area, the Yulong Naxi Nationality Autonomous Country, the town of Yongsheng, the town of Huaping, the Ninglang Yi Nationality Autonomous Country and so on. • Lijiang Ancient Town: The Lijiang Ancient City locates on a plateau tableland, which is 2,400 meters high above the sea level, locating at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, in northwestern Yunnan. It is hailed “the Oriental Venice”, which is listed as the World Famous Historic and Cultural Cities together with Athens, Paris and some other famous cities.
• Lugu Lake : The Lake area is best known as home of the unique Mosuo culture. The Mosuo, a subgroup of the Naxi, is a matrilineal society whose members engage in traditional "walking marriages," in which husband and wife remain in their respective maternal homes and often have more than one partner.
• Tiger Leaping Gorge: The Tiger-Leaping Gorge has the biggest canyon falling head in the world. It is 17 kilometers in length. The valley flat is 1,800 meters above the sea level and the drop height is over 200 meters. There are 18 dangerous shoals, cliffs on the two sides of river stand 3,000 meters above the water surface. The whole canyon could be divided into 3 sections——the Upper Tiger-Leaping, the Middle Tiger-Leaping and the Under Tiger-Leaping——lasting 25 kilometers. The water surface of the river is so narrow that there is only a uniline on the north bank, with water falls roaring beside and giant stones standing nearby.

And Kunming and Xishuangbanna of Yunnan, lots of other cities like Bijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing and Guiyang have already established direct flight to Lijiang. Most of the tourists choose to use Kunming as the transfer stop-fly to Kunming first, then go to Lijiang by air or by bus. The air journey takes about 40 minutes. The Lijiang airport is 28 kilometers away from the town.
