Tiger Leaping Gorge Hiking

Scenery:
Tiger Leaping Gorge is the one of the deepest gorges in the world. Its good paths high above the Yangtze River, magnificent view of Yulong Snow Mountain and First Bend of the Yangtze, ethnic villages, and inexpensive accommodation along the way make it one of the best and most popular hiking routes in China. The scenery is spectacular. Most of the trail is at an elevation of about 1,000 meters above the river, and you will hear river rushes along far below. Along the way you will come across Naxi people using the route and grazing their livestock.

The whole scenery could be divided into the canyon scenery and the mountain scenery. The Upper, Middle and Under Tiger-Leaping all belong to canyon scenery, which could be enjoyed on the gravel-paving road on the left mountainside. The mountain scenery indicates the landscape along your trekking way - the trekking pathway from the Haba Snow Mountain to Baishuitai.

Tours: Tiger Leaping Gorge hiking tours that My Chinatours offer vary from pace and allow for cultural exploration to the local villages.

Travel Tips

1. Canyon Hiking needs bowing before the storm. Since the temperature is high during the day time, you could bring short pants and T-shirt with you. Don’t forget to bring some high-calorie food (for example, chocolate, malted milk, beef jerky etc.) since physical output will be a lot.

2. There are always rolling stones and landslides on the trekking road, especially in rainy season, when massive mud-rock flows erupt. For avoiding danger and trapping, you’d better ask for enough information of the road form the natives.

3. You’d better take a tour guide who is familiar with the road conditions. Since the stone rolling and the mud-rock flowing always happen in some special section of the road, tour guides know which place is possible for this conditions so that he/she could tell you where you could go and where you could not.

4. Most attentions are needed at the deep - ditch waterfall between the Walnuts Garden and the Middle Canyon Hotel. No matter in good whether or rainy days, there are always falling rocks which make your trip very dangerous. After passing this danger zone, you’ll arrive the Middle Canyon Hotel.
