Ri Sheng Chang Draft Bank

As the cradle of Jin Commerce in Chinese history, Pingyao is the birthplace of Ri Sheng Chang Draft Bank which is the first modern bank prototype. Ri Sheng Chang Draft Bank was established in the fourth year of Emperor Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1,616 A.D.-1,911 A.D.), covering an area of 2,324 square (2,779 yards) meters, which could fully represent the culture of Jin Commerce. Three years later, there were many branches of Ri Sheng Chang Draft Bank in the major cities of China. And there were many cities taking it as an example with its business spreading to Japan, Singapore and Russia in the 40’ of the 19 century, forming a series of convincing management system in the filed of finance. It functioned as the financing center of China in the Qing Dynasty (1,616 A.D.-1,911 A.D.), manipulating the development of financing in China. Now it has become a Draft Bank Museum of China with more than 20 exhibit halls, including Historical Documentary Exhibit and the Original Appearance Exhibit.
