Bund Sightseeing Tunnel

Located in No. 30, on Zhongshan East Road of Shanghai, the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel is the first pedestrian tunnel across the river. The tunnel has two entrances as well as two exits respectively, and the Puxi Entrance-Exit of the tunnel is located in the north of Chenyi Square on the Bund, which is next to the Huangpu River; and the Pudong Entrance-Exit of the tunnel is located in the south of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, which is opposite to Shanghai International Convention Center. The tunnel connects the Bund Sightseeing Area in Puxi District and the newly developing Lujiazui Tourism Area in Pudong District as one, forming the most fascinating attraction in Shanghai.

The main features of the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel

The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel is 646.7 meters (707 yards) long in total with an inner diameter of the tunnel of 6.67 meters (7.29 yards), and it is a symbolized landscape project combing transportation function and tourism function perfectly as one with the modern high technology, displaying different kind of patterns and images as well as background music to reflect the history, culture, science and landscapes, which makes the whole journey very interesting and entertaining as well as inciting. What is more, the patterns in the tunnel are always in motion from yellow starfish to pink flowers…, which gives a very wonderful impression to the visitors from all over the world.

The visitors take the environment-friendly non-driver transparent SK compartments in the whole journey, at the same time, the music from the six-sound-track and high-fidelity stereo system in the compartments is very spiritually shocking, which makes tourists feel as if they were in a wonderland together with the changing pattern before your eyes. And it will take you 2.5 minutes to 5 minutes to cross the tunnel by the compartments. There are 2 lighting systems in the tunnel: one system is for the common transportation period of time and the other one is just for the tourism period of time, creating the unique effects with the continuous changing patterns and different light sources. Besides the lighting systems, there are other 6 systems in the sightseeing tunnel: the Fire Control Supervising System, the Television Monitor and Control System, the Transportation Control and Monitoring System, the Landscape Control System, the Automatic Fare Collection System and Office Intelligent System respectively, which are automatically controlled by the computer center in Pudong District, with the technology leading the way domestically. There are 12 moving staircases and 4 Vertical staircases in the tunnel as well, among which 2 are just for the disabled.

It is located in No. 30, on Zhongshan East Road of Shanghai, and you can take a bus No.82, 85, 583, 827, 65, 55, 21 and 37 or metro No. 2 line to get there directly. It is open to the public from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm every day
