Duo Lun Road

Located in No. 146, on the Dongjiangwan Road in Hongkou District of Shanghai, the Duo Lun Road is as long as 550 meters (601 yards), which recovers the folk customs of Shanghai in the 1920s and 1930s after several renovations, and there were many culture celebrities living on the street in the modern times, for example: Lu Xun, Mao Dun and Guo Moruo, functioning as the base camp in the field of culture. Now it has become a hot tourism attraction in Shanghai for its culture relics and its elegant culture.

The main features of the Duo Lun Road

With the cultural tourism as theme, the Duo Lun Road combines tourism, commerce, recreation and culture perfectly as one. The street is paved with stones with stores standing on each side of the street, and the vivid bronze statues describe the spirit of scholars in the past and the former residences of the celebrities tell you the story about the past times. The decorated archway stands in the intersection of the Sichuan North Road and the Duolun Road with the inscription “the Culture Celebrity Street on the Duo Lun Road” carved on the top of the archway, which is 4 meters (13 yards) high and 3.8 meters (4.2 yards) wide in size. Walking past the archway, you will see a brick-wood architecture in Islamic style ahead, which is located in No. 250 on the street with embossments on the facade of the building. There is the biggest ancient coin museum- Jinquan Ancient Coin Museum on the street as well, which is just opposite to the gardening villa in Spanish style. Keeping walking on, you will see some characteristic collection halls on the street such as the Chopstick-Preserving Hall, Nanjing Bell-Preserving Hall and the Wonder Stone-Preserving Hall, fully displaying the cultural characteristics of the street. On the Duo Lun Road, the black street lamps recall the past times, and the bell echoes on the 18 –meter (59- feet) high Xishi Bell Tower, which can be heard from far way, and it represents the traditional Chinese culture spreading into all the directions of the whole world, attracting the attraction of the visitors from far away. Walking past the bell tower, you will see a famous church-Hongde Church in Chinese architecture style before your eyes, which displays the charms of the combination of Chinese and Western culture together with the Gongfei Cafeteria.

It is located in No. 146, on the Dongjiangwan Road in Hongkou District of Shanghai, and you can take a bus No. 21, 939, 231, 47, 854, 79 and 18 to get there directly. It is open to the public all day long every year.
