Science Technology Museum

As an important “Popularization Base of Science & Technology” as well as the recreation and tourism base in Shanghai, Shanghai Science Technology Museum is located in No. 2,000, on the New Century Avenue in Pudong District of Shanghai with the Century Square in the east and the Century Park in the north, which was the venue of the informal APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Leaders' Meetings in 2001, and it is an ideal place for the visitors to receive science knowledge education with its advanced technology.

Covering an area of more than 68,000 square meters (81,327 square yards) with an construction area of more than 98,000 square meters (117,207 square yards), Shanghai Science Technology Museum is a 4 storied building composing of 5 main exhibit halls as well as some occasional exhibit halls, which is with “the Natural, Men and the Science” as the theme. The 5 main halls are the Heaven & Earth Exhibit Hall, the Being Exhibit Hall, the Wisdom Exhibit Hall, the Creation Exhibit Hall and the Future Exhibit Hall. There are the Fish House, the Mammal House, the Paleontology House, the Insect House, the amphibian and reptile House and the invertebrate House on underground floor, covering an area of 1,200 square meters (1,435 square yards) in all. As the main exhibit zone of the museum, there are the Earth's Crust Exploration Exhibit Zone, the Wide Spectrum of Life Exhibit Zone, the Audio-Visual Paradise Exhibit Zone, the Children's Techno-land Exhibit Zone and the Cradle of the Designer Exhibit Zone as well as the 4D Movie on the first floor; there are 4 exhibit halls one the second floor of the museum, which are the Earth Home Exhibit Zone, the Information times Exhibit Zone, the Robot World Exhibit Zone and the Spider Exhibit Zone. On the third floor of the museum are the Light of Exploration Exhibit Zone, Human Beings & Health Exhibit Zone and the Aerospace Exhibit Zone.

Getting there:

It is located in No. 2000, on the New Century Avenue in Pudong District of Shanghai, and the bus No. 640, 794, 984, 983 and 987 will take you there directly as well as the metro No.2 line. It is open to the public from 9:00 am to 5:15 every day except Monday.
