The Bund

The Bund, located along the Huangpu River, is an attractive destination of Shanghai, showing Shanghai's outstanding foreign buildings. It is so wonderful that every tourist do not want to miss it.
 

The 1.5 kilometers long Bund has an alternate name, namely, No.1 East Zhongshan Road. It faces Huangpu River, the Mother River of Shanghai, in the east. In the west, it houses 52 buildings with various architectural styles such as Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Neo-Classical, Beaux-Arts, and Art Deco. These buildings have ranked Shanghai as one of the richest collections of Art Deco architectures in the world.
 

The Bund has been the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years. It is the corridor of Shanghai and people in Shanghai are proud of it. It shows Shanghai culture to the world sufficiently and has the excellent ability to combine, innovate and develop western culture with local culture perfectly.
 

The special geographic location of the Bund, as well as its economic effects on Shanghai and even China, adds Shanghai with abundant cultural connotation.

The streetscape, consisted of the river bank, the green belt and beautiful buildings, is the most distinguishing scenery in Shanghai.
 

In the morning, the Bund is a good place for people to have morning exercise. And in the evening, it is an ideal place for dating. When the evening lights are lit, buildings at the Bund are brilliantly illuminated like hundreds of crystal palaces standing along the bank, which always amazes the tourists from around the world. In the late 19th century, many foreign capital banks, established on the Bund, earned the fame of "the Finance Street" and "the Wall Street in the east".

Scenic spots around it:
The city sculpture groups in the Bund are formed of three stainless steel sculptures, known as "Light of Huangpu River", "Sail", and "Wind". They are located in the green long corridor of the Bund in East Jinling Road.
 

Chen Yi Square, lies at the end of Nanjing Road. The statue of Chen Yi on the square is made of bronze with a height of 5.6 meters. Its base is made of red granite with a height up to 3.5 meters. The statue reappears vividly the typical gesture of the first mayor of Shanghai.
 

The Bund Tourist Tunnel, which is the first pedestrian tunnel in China, has a length of 646.70 meters. It shows people pictures and visions with background music, by using high-tech methods. The shows of characters, history, culture, technology and scenery, have made the crossing way interesting, funny and exciting. All these will certainly add beautiful memories to your trip.
