Tianzifang

Tianzifang is located in No. 210, on the Taikang Road in Dapuqiao District of Shanghai, which was a market bazaar before 1998. Under the leadership of suburban government, the Taikang Road was rebuilt in 1998, which has taken a new page ever since with so many some shops selling handcrafts, clothes and ornaments on the street.

The main features of Tianzifang

Tianzifang is the creative industry cluster district after the reformation of the architectures in Shikumen of Shanghai, which is also the creative operational base for many artists, and it is endowed with the title of “the Second Xintiandi in Shanghai”. As a matter of fact, there are many differences between Tianzifang and Xintiandi besides the same fashion. There are more than 40 craftwork stores and 20 studios on the street, among which the famous ones are: Chen Yifei’s studio, Chen Yifei’s studio and Er Dongqiang’s studio. The sculpture “the Way to Art” designed by artist-Chen Yifeng erects in the east of Taikang Road, which has become the symbol of the street. There are more than 10 flags from different countries waving on the street, which is just like a small- scaled international art exposition, and the western culture and the Chinese culture conflict and integrate on the street, shining the sparkle of wisdom.

Tianzifang shows the warm and noisy aspects of Shanghaiin most cases, and you will always find some teahouses, open-air restaurants, open-air café bars, and galleries as well as the delicate handcrafts on the street, each of which has its own feature and style, attracting the visitors to come here for tasting the true flavor of the street.

Getting there:

It is located in No. 210, on the Taikang Road of Shanghai, and you can take a bus No. 17, 236 and 304 to get there directly from the city center. You can also take the subway Line 9 to stop at exit one of Dapu Road Station, and take a 5-minute walk to get there directly.
