Shigatse festivals

The yearly Buddha Exhibition Festival in the Tashilhunpo Monastery has already had a 500-year history. During May 14th~16th in the Tibetan Calendar every year, different buddhas are exhibited. The whole exposition zone spreads over 1,000 meters, decorated by silk and satins. The Buddha Exhibition Festival is not only an important festival in Tsang, but also the pageant of sutra chanting, prayers meeting and rain begging. Besides, the mystic religious Festival, Vision Quests, the Ximuqinbo Festival in Shalu Monastery and Tibetan Opera are also magnificent and interesting activities in Tibet.

1. Buddha Exhibition Festival
Time: May 14~16 in Tibetan Calendar
Duration: 3 days
Location: the Tashilhunpo Monastery
Introduction: During May 14th~16th in the Tibetan Calendar every year, different buddhas are exhibited. The whole exposition zone spreads over 1,000 meters, decorated by silk and satins. 2. Dama Festival in Gyangse
　
Time: April 10~27 in Tibetan Calendar
Location: the town of Gyangse
Introduction: This festival date from the year 1408, for memorizeing the Dharmaraja Pabasangbu during the period of Sakia dynasty. Horse-riding, Tibet opera, singing and dancing, goods exchanging and lots of other activities are held during the festival.

3. The Qomolangma Culture and Tourism in Shigatse
　
Time: from the end of September to the beginning of October
Location: the city of Shigatse
Activities: Commercial communications; religious opera show; Tibet opera performances; Tsang dressing show.

Besides, the mystic religious Festival, Vision Quests, the Ximuqinbo Festival in Shalu Monastery and Tibetan Opera are also magnificent and interesting activities in Tibet.
