Mount Huang, also known as Huangshan, is a mountain range in southern Anhui province in eastern China, located in Huangshan City, Anhui Province, across the city Yi County, Xiuning County and Huangshan District, Huizhou District. The Longji Terraced Fields are located in the Heping town in Longsheng, about 2 hours drive from Guilin. The terraced fields, like great ladders or ribbons, wind from the bottom of mountains to the top. Covering over 700 sq km, Jiuzhai Valley is part of the magnificent Min Shan mountains on the edge of the Tibetan plateau, north of Sichuan Province. Jiuzhai Valley first became a Park in 1978, and 14 years later,it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. In 1997 it is awarded the status of UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve, and has since received many other, well-deserved listings.
Jiuzhai valley literaly means ‘Valley of the Nine Villages’, and the nine villages remain spread around the valley within the Park, home to about 110 Tibetan and Qiang families. More than 100 gorgeous lakes are dotted in the park, which differ from others by having a high concentration of calcium carbonate. Waterfalls are the essence of the scenery in Jiuzhaigou. They are created between lakes on different levels with water flowing down the cliffs covered with trees.
