There are many attractions in Turfan: the Grape Valley, the Flaming Mountain, Bizaklik Thousand-Buddha Caves, the Ancient City of Gaochang, the Ancient City of Jiaohe, the Karez System, the Astana-Karakhoja Ancient Tombs, Turpan Museum, the Desert Botanical Garden, the Aydingkol Lake and the Sand Therapy Health Center.   • The Grape Valley : As the Hometown of the Grapes, the Grape Valley is rich in high-quality grapes of different kinds, which actually is 8-kilometer (5miles) long from north to south and 0.5-kilometer (03.miles) wide from west to east. The verdant valley is teemed with wineyards as well as all kinds of grapes: some are as green as turquoises; some are as red as carnelians and some are as small as pearls, among which the white seedless grapes that are crystal-like with special flavor are welcomed most by people.
  • Flaming Mountain : As the hottest place throughout China, the Flaming Mountain is 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) in the northeast part of Turpan City, which runs 98 kilometers (61 miles) from west to east and 9 kilometers (5.6miles) from south to north with the peak of 813.7 meters (2,669 feet) rising above Shengjinkou.
  • Bizalkik Thousand Buddha Caves: As the best-known remains of the Buddihist temple in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Bizalkik Thousand-Buddha Caves is 45 kilometers (28 miles) in the east part of Turpan, standing high on the cliffs of west Mugou Valley beneath the Flaming Mountain, which is just 15 kilometers (9 miles) away from the Ancient Gaochang City.

Turpan has temperate continental climate with the dry, hot and windy weather owing to its unique location, which is in the middle of the basin and surrounded by the mountains. The best time to visit Turpan is from July to September when the fruit are ripe. The Grape Festival is a special event held in August each year when the visitors can fully taste the seasonal fruits. Turpan Transportation

As a tourist center of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, the transportation in Turpan is convenient on the whole. The visitors can get there by air, by train or by long-distance buses as well as donkey carts. You can get to the scenic spots easily in Turpan, and all the other tourism attractions are less than 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the city center except for Emin Minaret, all of which are well-connected by one another.   • Railway: Turpan Railway Station is in Daheyan village, which is 50 kilometers from Turpan City center, connecting northern and southern Xinjiang as a whole.
  • City Transportation: There are several ways to travel in the city, like buses and donkey cart, while taxi is the best way to save your time and the most convenient way to destination in Turpan.
  • Air:  Turpan-Jiaohe airport is 10 kilometers from Turpan City and is 230 kilometers form Urumqi International Airport.
