Turpan Weather

Turpan has temperate continental climate with the dry, hot and windy weather owing to its unique location, which is in the middle of the basin and surrounded by the mountains. The climate in Turpan is characterized by 5 features: the long duration of the sunshine, the high temperature, a big gap in temperature difference during day and night, a little precipitation and strong winds. The mean annual temperature is 14℃ and the mean annual temperature in summer is 30℃. The hottest recorded temperature is 49.6 C in July and the coldest temperature is in January. The best time to visit Turpan is from July to September when the fruit are ripe. The Grape Festival is a special event held in August each year when the visitors can fully taste the seasonal fruits.
