The largest commercial center in Urumqi is located in the area where Jiefang Road, Minzhu Road and Zhongshan Road intersect. Numerous shops and products are available here. The commercial street with strong ethnic flavor is located at Erdaoqiao, which is the residential community of Uyghur people, as well as the location of Xinjiang’s famous bazaar.

Erdaoqiao is a must-see attraction for visitors to Urumqi, where they can experience the Xinjiang folk customs, taste local snacks and buy some specialty products.At Erdaoqiao, Uyghur merchants run shops, restaurants and mosques. There are various ethnic products for sale along the street, such as Uyghur flower hats, hand-made embroideries, silver and gold jewelries, jade carvings, carpets, horn whips, Xibe tobacco pipe, leather boots, silk, Yengisar pocket knives, Hetian carpets and so on. All these are handmade and are good buys for souvenirs. Specialty products are pilose antler, donkey-hide gelatin, deer blood wine, Ili special spirit, and wine. Various fresh fruits are the most attractive products, such as grapes, honey-dew melons, pomegranates, almonds, figs, peaches, Korla fragrant pears, Ili apples and many kinds of dried fruits.
