High up o¬n the mountain erects five peaks decorated by verdant trees in the dim mist or in the clouds, if you are looking from far away, they are just like five old people with white beards watching the vast ocean attentively. So they are called "Five Old Men stretching into the Clouds," which is o¬ne of the most intriguing eight attractions of Xiamen.

The main features of the Five Old Men Peaks
Stepping on the scenic spot from the back of the Sutra-Preserved Hall in the Nanputuo Temple, the characters “the Five Old Men Peaks” are engraved on the hillside and the word “Buddha” is inscribed on the wall of a gigantic rock that is 4.7 meters long and 3.3 meters wide, expansive and rough. The word “Buddha” is written by an achieved monk Zhenhui during Qing Dynasty (1606A.D. ~1911A.D.). On the left of the word “Buddha” is the grave towers of Jingfeng monk and Xicang monk, and o¬n the west side is the Zhuangfeng monk’s grave tower under which is the former site of Puzhao Temple. Previously the Puzhao temple took the cave as the hall, the words “Flying Spring” was inscribed inside wall of the cave, and four words “Xixinduanbi” are inscribed outside of the wall of the cave. There are memorial pavilions and attics in the mountains as well as Xiangsi trees which are from Taiwan, expressing the deep affection for the people in Taiwan.
