Kampula National Forest Park

Kampula National Forest Park is located 131 kilometers away from Xining, in Jianzha County. The average altitude of the park is 2,500 meters high, with the highest peak of 3,100 meters high and the lowest altitude of 2,300 meters high. In the area of 152 square kilometers, there are unique Danxia Landforms, verdant forest vegetations, ancient religious places, majestic hydropower dam and Tibetan villages. It is an ideal place for sightseeing and hiking.

Unique Danxia Landforms

Danxia Landform of Kampula National Forest Park features marvelous peaks, mysterious caves and steep cliffs, and the huge mountains that are very majestic in the shapes of columns, towers and castles. On the contrary, the small mountains are very delicate in different shapes such as beast and birds, which can be represented by “Fairies Gathering Together”, “Qiangqi Hill’ and “Nan Zong Ditch”.

Colorful Forest Vegetation Landscape

The climate in the park is rather humid with the primitive plants, which are very verdant on the mountains. The elms stand firmly at the foot of the mountains, and the crabapple blossoms are in full bloom along the streams. The mountain flowers are in blossom between June and July, and the maples are fully in red in September, which is just like a colorful picture.

Time-Honored Religious Culture

Nan Zong Temple has a long history of 1,000 years in the park, which is the birthplace of the second propagation of Buddhism in Tibet. The Buddhism paintings in the temple are of great art value. The temple is composed of several caves, with the statues of Buddha enshrined in the caves. Now it functions as a holy Buddhism place, attracting the pilgrims for worshipping from Tibet, Gansu Province, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Sichuan Province and Gansu Province for thousands of years.

Lijiaxia Hydropower Plant
The man- made lake in Lijiaxia Hydropower Plant covers an area of 32 square kilometers, and the waves of the lake and the surrounding mountains are setting off each other perfectly. Lijiaxia Hydropower Dam is 175 meters high, making great contribution to the development of the local agriculture and industry in this area.
